FACULTY DIRECTOR

Dr. Camilla McMahon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Miami University, and she is the director of the Autism Research Lab. Her current program of research focuses on peer knowledge of autism, as well as peer receptivity and openness toward individuals with autism. This program of research is designed to inform the development of interventions to increase peer knowledge and public awareness of autism, as well as to improve positive, reciprocal social interactions between individuals with autism and their peers. Dr. McMahon is a graduate of both Miami University (OH) and the University of Miami (FL), and she is a proud supporter of both Miamis! RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Sophia Thompson is a psychology major and neuroscience co-major at Miami University. She enjoys traveling and making art in different medias. Her interests in psychology are concerning developmental psychology, psychopathology and psychotherapy, and biological psychology. Sophia joined the lab in 2020 as a research assistant, and is hoping to gain hands on research experience concerning a topic she is passionate about learning. Sophia will graduate in 2023 and will attend graduate school. 

Savannah Wells is a psychological science and neuroscience major at Miami University. She enjoys reading, travelling, and hanging out with her family. Her psychological interests include neuropsychology, clinical psychology, and addiction psychology. She hopes to develop her reading and writing skills by working hands on in the lab. She will graduate in 2024 and will attend graduate school.

RECENT LAB ALUMNI

Meghan Linthicum graduated from Miami University, Magna Cum Laude, in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Art in psychology. She joined the lab in spring of 2017 as a lab assistant. She became Lab Manager in Fall 2018 and held the position until she graduated. While in the lab she had the opportunity to experience various aspects of the research process which helped her in her academic career. Her favorite experience was co-designing a study with Dr. McMahon. Other rewarding opportunities included attending the Association for Psychological Science Convention in California in the spring of 2018,  attending the International Society for Autism Research Conference in Montreal, Canada in 2019, and co-authoring research articles. Currently, Meghan attends graduate school at Miami University and is pursuing her Masters and Education Specialist degrees in School Psychology.   

Stacey Henry  graduated from Miami University, Summa Cum Laude, in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Art in psychological science. She joined the lab in spring of 2017 as the lab manager and held the position until she graduated. Her experiences in the lab provided many opportunities to gain research experience and grow academically and professionally. The most rewarding opportunities included being awarded the Undergraduate Summers Scholars Award and attending the Association for Psychological Science Convention in California in the spring of 2018. Currently, Stacey attends the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University and is pursuing a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) with an emphasis on children and health.
